Kluane Red Squirrel Project

Red squirrels exhibit distinct personalities.  A female’s activity influences the growth rates of her pups and her aggressiveness is related to the survival of her offspring over winter.  These effects, however, change from one year to the next providing evidence for balancing selection that might maintain variation in personality in this population.
